‘Demonstrated true excellence in their field’: Frontier Support wins best Supported Living Team across South EastIt’s not every day you’re awarded an award for all your hard work.
But on November 17th, Frontier Support was named as the best Supported Living Team across the South East at the 2023 Great British Care Awards, which was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Metropole in Brighton.
The awards are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. They pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
Frontier won the award thanks to Clara Burfutt and her trusty team who went above and beyond to help care for one of the people we support while they were in hospital receiving life-saving treatment.
On the night, judges also praised the work of care worker Esther Akinyemi who worked together with a team and hypnotherapist to help one young man who she supports overcome a long-lived fear of being outside and in the wider community.
Judges said: “The Frontier Support team demonstrated true excellence in their field. One example that stood out was how they helped a service user overcome agoraphobia.
“The team worked alongside the person for nine months, and after much creative and careful planning, was successful in helping the person rejoin the community.” They added: “These exceptional efforts deserve to be recognised.”
Regional winners
As you might remember, we were named as a regional finalist back in October 2023 after we were shortlisted for five awards in total.
The five awards included the Care Employee of the Year, the Co-production Category, Dignity in Care, Supported Living Team and the Three Rs.
To scoop the award for best Supported Living Team, judges were looking for teams who best demonstrated a shared vision and agreed goals, along with having an excellent communication process and high commitment to dignity and privacy for clients.
‘Dependable and caring’
“Supporting living is the whole crux of Frontier,” Tony Piercy, CEO of Frontier Support said. “No matter how big the challenge, we help people live their life to the full, behind their own front door — and our loyal, dependable and caring team is on hand to make that happen.”
“Providing first class care is what we do week in, week out across 365 days of the year,” Tony adds. “So to win an award that champions that is the cherry on top of the cake. Very well done to all those involved and it’s tremendous to see how much of a difference we have made, and continue to make, to the lives of the people who we support.”
Frontier Support will now go through to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards which will take place on March 22nd 2024 at the ICC in Birmingham.
