‘Delivering the utmost care and respect’: Louise Dean wins July’s Employee of the Month
Published: 7 July 2023

Maximising client independence and choice whilst respecting and maintaining privacy and dignity at all times is why support worker, Louise Dean, picked up July’s Employee of the Month Award.

Support worker Louise has worked for our supported living services since 2016. In that time, Louise has done a stellar job of helping the people we support live as independently as possible behind their own front door.

Louise currently works on the outreach team. So supports ward nurses and doctors who are treating any unwell inpatients who we assist. Louise recently helped  a person who we support make an unexpected trip to the hospital for an emergency blood transfusion.

Providing first class care

Louise stayed hours (and hours) over her usual shift time. And offered support and comfort to the client during this stressful, upsetting and very nerve-wracking time. She kept them focused for the hours it took to complete the procedure and went above and beyond in her duties.

Following the blood transfusion, Louise took it upon herself to arrange a trip to the dialysis unit to help the person we support get familiar with the unit and hopefully reduce any anxiety surrounding it. As they would need to go back there in the coming weeks.

“In this example, Louise put the person we support need’s first and helped them navigate this unexpected trip to hospital with the utmost care and respect,” Tony Piercy, CEO at Frontier Support says. “To ease any added anxiety and nervousness the follow-up appointments might bring, Louise took them down to the dialysis unit so they could see through their own eyes what to expect. This is a brilliant example of how our colleagues provide person-centred care.”

Remind me, what is the Employee of the Month scheme?

We know we have a team full of kind and caring colleagues. Which is why we wanted to shine a light on all the wonderful things they do in their role, going above and beyond to help the people we support.

Whether it’s introducing a range of new activities into the life of the person who we support or perhaps it’s helping another person who we support overcome his fear of going outside so he could move out of his house and into a new home.

Each month, every colleague can nominate a fellow worker who has gone the extra mile in their role. The winner will be given a £50 voucher for all their hard work. Running up until September, all winners will be placed into a pot to be crowned the Employee of the Year at our annual awards ceremony in October.
