Our April Employee of the Month goes to…Oluwaseyi Akinyemi

At Frontier Support, we recently launched our Employee of the Year Awards, which is a workplace initiative that shines a spotlight on colleagues who go over and above in their role. 

As a provider of specialist care and support for adults with a variety of needs, we have a diligent, professional and caring team in place who provide first-class supported living services.

And if there’s one colleague who embodies these values, it’s support worker, Oluwaseyi Akinyemi, who won our April Employee of the Month Award. 

‘A massive difference to the lives of the people we support his duties’

Oluwaseyi was nominated by fellow colleagues for going over and above his day-to-day duties. 

In his role, Oluwaseyi supports adults with learning disabilities who live independently in their own homes. One day, he might be helping them get ready for the day, going shopping, off out for a walk or grabbing a coffee.

But what really earned him this award, was the fact he took the initiative to introduce a range of new activities into the life of the person who he supports. Before, the person who he supports had never enjoyed any activities within the community.

But now, they go swimming every Tuesday and enjoy staying active at their local gym. Oluwaseyi also ensures that all staff work as a team to keep the activities ongoing.

Oluwaseyi has also helped in the setting up of a new service we have here at Frontier. This is a supported living service which helps people with a range of needs. After hearing how important the new service will be in supporting people in the wider community, he agreed to help — no questions asked.

What is the Employee of the Month scheme?

Essentially, our Employee of the Month scheme highlights all the amazing and wonderful things our colleagues do. Each month, every colleague can nominate a fellow worker who has gone the extra mile in their role. 

Anyone can nominate a colleague for good practice or just doing something a little above and beyond the everyday. Each month, one person will be given a £50 voucher for all their hard work. While the runner up will be awarded with a £25 voucher.

The scheme relaunched in March 2023 and runs until September 2023. Each month’s winner and runner-up will be placed into a pot to be crowned the Employee of the Year at our annual awards ceremony in October. 

The overall winner will receive a £250 voucher. At the October awards, we’ll also be naming our: 

• Newcomer of the Year — who’ll receive a voucher worth £125.
• Manager of the Year — who’ll also receive a voucher worth £125.
• Awards for 10 and 15-years’ service.
