You know how the saying goes: New Year, New Us. And to some degree that’s true, because this month we’ve welcomed two new starters at Frontier Support.
Shamara Shepherd and Stephen Umeasiegbu have joined Frontier as our new Deputy Area Managers.
Deputy Area Manager role
As part of the role, Stephen and Shamara will be working alongside two different Area Managers ensuring services are delivered in a way that puts the people we support at the centre of their support.
Commenting about his new role, Stephen said: “I firmly believe that every moment has potential, and this can only be achieved through a person-centred approach and teamwork. This includes the people we support, their circle of support, staff and commissioners. I am very passionate and driven to ensure that people we support live safe and fulfilling lives and that has been my life goal.”
Shamara added: “I wanted to join Frontier because it has an ethos that is in line with my own. Frontier puts the client at the heart of everything they do. I’m really looking forward to meeting the new clients and building a good rapport with them. Going forward, I would like to build on the experience that I already have and progress within this company as opportunities arrive.”
Stephen previously worked as a finance officer with Cancer Research UK and Thomas Pocklington Trust. The latter is a charitable trust which provides housing and support for people with sight loss. The married father of three started his career in care as a social carer.
Stephen said: “Over the years I worked in residential and supported living settings for various care providers. I started as a support worker and progressed through the ranks to become a deputy manager and have worked with people with diverse needs. This includes those with autism, mental health difficulties, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.
“This work has been fulfilling for me as I have supported people to achieve goals and fulfil their potential.”
When Stephen’s not at work, he is a deacon at his local church. And during his spare time, he likes to read books, exercise and spend quality time with his family.
Shamara brings with her plenty years of experience in the role. That’s because the mother of one was previously working as a Deputy Service Manager for another care company. Whilst there, Shamara supported adults with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries, paralysis and epilepsy.
Shamara said: “I am a qualified social worker and have experience of working in both statutory settings and private care. I have experience of completing assessments and ensuring that my clients have personalised care plans that meet all of their needs.”
Outside of work, Shamara enjoys going to the gym (when it’s open), spending time with friends and family and long walks with her dog.
