I have worked as a Support Worker and Manager in social care for the past 22 years. Most of my time has been spent in providing community-based and residential/supported living help for adults with learning disabilities.
As Area Manager for London and the South East, I see my main priority as continuing to provide creative, high-quality, person-centred and ever-improving services, whilst meeting the financial constraints experienced by the social care sector. It’s a challenge, of course… as are the ever-tightening eligibility criteria for services and the continued discrimination faced by people with learning disabilities.
Outside work I like to keep active, regularly attending exercise classes, riding my electric bike and going on architectural walks. Learning the electric guitar is definitely on my list of things to do, too! Finally, as a qualified Life Coach, I really enjoy using my knowledge and skills to help people achieve what they want in life.
